when i was just a kid, around six or so, i wrote a story for my grandma. the plot was pretty simple about some kids who wanted to teach a bully a lesson by using a haunted house and make believe monster complete with sharp teeth and glow-in-the-dark slime.  it was my first story and it was short, only about three pages, misspelled, and written completely in lower case. that was it, though. my little heart was hooked and i have never wanted to be anything as much as i’ve wanted to be a writer.

now, several years later (and i won’t tell you how many years, exactly), it’s time to make that dream a reality. so here starts my journey to publication, with this first blog post. the manuscript is finished, the cover art ordered, and website is built. let the countdown begin!!

my debut novel (that just sounds cool…and pretentious) is titled “missing”. this book started as a sort of experiment when i decided to try a different kind of story than i usually write, my first romantic suspense. i really enjoyed it, though, and am proud of the way it turned out. i admit that a lot of that is because i have fallen in love with the characters. “missing” centers around rowan quaide who is searching for answers in the disappearance of her best friend. rowan is, on the surface, a cold character, calculating and cocky. i loved watching her bloom throughout the book. she is a real character, flawed and fallible. she struggles quite a bit. luckily for her, she has some great friends. in fact, i sometimes liked her friends more than i liked rowan! seriously, farrah and mark almost got their own book, but i thought rowan needed them! and harrison…. well you’ll have to check them all out themselves. i hope you like them as much as i do.

so, with a book i loved writing as much as this one, i thought it needed a cover that i loved just as much. but do you know how hard it is to do book covers?! i didn’t. i tried to do it myself, i really did. after all, who better than the person who knows the themes and concepts of the novel the best to come up with the picture to represent it? well, after looking through tutorials, trying different software, and sorting through countless stock photos, i finally admitted defeat. my eyes are still sore! so i got online and found kari at cover to cover design. after a few emails, i decided that she would do a much better job than i would! so she’s going to get that done for me, and i will post it as soon as it’s ready!

also, i have the website mostly ready. there are some things i want to add, but nothing that prevents it from being used. just be patient with the coming changes. they’re coming, but i’m new at this, so it may take some time!

in the mean time, i will work on getting an excerpt up so you can get a taste for what’s coming. as time gets closer to publish, i will run a giveaway, so be sure to check back for updates. see you soon!!
