i was invited by the fabulous miss kasey lane (http://www.kaseylane.com) to join in the “meet my character blog tour”, in which we get to introduce a character of our own making, from one of our most recent works (either recently published or a WIP). it’s dangerous, i say, to let some of these people out among the world, but i suppose we can’t keep them locked in the basement forever, right? at least, that’s what they tell me about my kids, so i must assume i should treat my characters with the same courtesy.

so here we go:

.) What is the name of your character? Rowan Quaide, or “Ro” to those too lazy to finish that second syllable.
.) Is he/she fictional or a historic person? Well…she’s very real to me, but i suppose she’s a bit fictional to everyone else. at least, until she’s published. then, hopefully, she’ll be real to the readers, as well.
.) When and where is the story set? Present day St. Louis, with a quick trip into Kentucky, and an interesting detour into Crazy-ville. (disclaimer: Crazy-ville is not an actual place…at least, not for everyone. those of us with small children, however, visit there often.)
.) What should we know about him/her? Ro is not exactly a warm fuzzy kind of gal. she likes to analyze everything and have a strategy in place for any situation. she’s not a damsel in distress. she’s a kick ass woman who causes stress. but damn if she doesn’t pull at your heartstrings just the same.
.) What is the main conflict? What messes up his/her life? her best friend disappeared without a trace, leaving poor Ro a little off kilter. a psycho stalker/killer has her life pretty messed up. also, there’s this guy….
.) What is the personal goal of the character? Ro’s main goal in life is to find her missing friend.
.) Is there a working title for this novel, and can we read more about it? the title is “Missing” and you can find the cover art and an excerpt on my website, randaflannery.com.
.) When can we expect the book to be published or when was it published? there are some final edits to make before i can publish, but it should be out this year.
