love the one you’re witch

yay for fall!

i love the fall season. the nice crisp weather, the pretty leaves, the colorful decorations. i love the food and the specialty drinks that smell like cinnamon and nutmeg and oranges. and i absolutely adore curling up by a big window with a comfy blanket, while the wind blows the leaves about outside, to read a good book. Give me a mug of really awesome cider, and it’s my version of heaven.

so, halloween is coming and, no surprise i’m sure, but i love it, too. people say the christmas season feels magic, but i really think the magic starts around halloween. all that joy and fun in make believe. unfortunately, halloween is not a thing here in china, so i guess i’ll have to eat a bunch of candy by myself. with my cider. by the window. with a good book.

speaking of which, if you know anyone looking for some good halloween reads, pass along the new ad!

meet the character: walsh

i am one proud mama right now. lucas, from “love the one you’re witch” made the list of best book boyfriends of 2015 here! check out the number 1 spot and leave a comment to let them know how you agree!

with lucas getting some much deserved love, however, i thought it might be time to show off walsh a little more. lucy’s love from “wherever you go, were you are” is not your typical alpha hero. much like lucas, he thumbs his nose at the stereotype of the domineering lead, yet still accomplishes his goals and gets the girl.

he’s easy to underestimate, even for a sharp tack like lucy, because he’s so unassuming. he’s easy going and unaggressive, yet determined and persistent. raised by a mother and three older sisters, he has more than his fair share of manners and chivalry. he’s also learned more effective ways of managing that completely circumvent most fights.

don’t let that laid back persona fool you, though. he’s more than willing to get into the thick of things when the situation calls for it.

and did i mention his buns?

eventually, i will get him and lucy up on the character page of the site, but i can’t promise when. so far, the site upgrading is driving me crazy—er. soon, though. like…sometime in the next month? *sigh*

meet the character: lucas

the blog tour for “love the one you’re witch” was great and i got a lot of good questions about ana’s hero, lucas vincent. people want more of this guy, and i can’t blame them! so i dug back in the blog archives and found this post from a while back, before i was picked up by a publisher and i was planning to just have the whole story (albeit much shorter) as a blog post series. i loved this post because you get to be inside his head and get a bit more intimate with him. enjoy!

he’s no edward cullen…thank the goddess! this 260 year old vampire is tall, dark, and scrumptious with a penchant for cheesy pick up lines he’s stolen from movies. what do you think? is this what you were picturing for the hunky hero of ‘love the one you’re witch’? feel free to send me some photos in the comments of guys you think fit the romantic vamp. in the mean time…how about a snippet from the man’s own side of the story?

I brace myself before I approach the door, trying to gather my patience. Erica has been grating on the last of it for weeks. I can’t take much more, not of the constant pawing or of the guilt. I’m hurting my brother. It’s as unintentional as it is undeniable. I used to envy him, what he has with Erica. Had with Erica. No one could envy what he has with her now. Well…maybe I do. I wish that she would turn her eyes away from me, not want to touch me, completely reject me right now. I want love and companionship and forever…but not like this.  I heave another breath and try to bolster my spirits for the sake of my family. Everyone is tense. We’ve been walking on egg shells around each other all month. They don’t blame me, not really. But they also don’t know how to deal with this, with me. They feel sorry for me, yes, knowing that I am not enjoying my sister-in-law’s attentions, but they also can’t help but be aggravated. Hell, I’m aggravated with me, and I know I haven’t done anything to deserve it. What a damn mess.

I turn the knob and step inside, prepared to face my strange fate again, when it hits me. It’s like walking into a kitchen where cookies have been baking all day. It makes the mouth water, the stomach wake, and the mood lift. I feel a smile break my frown for the first time in a while. Something’s different. Something in this house… There’s a sort of sparkle in the air and it tingles along my skin. I quicken my pace toward the voices ahead of me when a new one stands out, a silken sound that wraps around me like a lead, tugging me faster. I feel anxious and out of control as something beckons like a promise. She’s here, it whispers. At last!

I feel clumsy, like my feet won’t work right, as I reach the living room, my eyes darting around the faces there, and finding one. I stop, not sure I can move, as I take her in, imprinting her in my immortal mind. Her long hair is a waterfall of blond curls, her face the shape of a heart with a pert nose and a sharp chin . Her eyes are the color of jade and shine with a wry humor that suggests she’s laughing at us all. The set of her cupid’s bow mouth invite us to either join in the joke or, possibly, kiss off.  She’s absolutely perfect. A long dormant part of me, the primitive part that makes our kind dangerous, stirs in response. It lifts it’s head and stretches in anticipation, sending my blood rushing at the urge to claim.

Erica’s shriek breaks my trance. “And they brought you here to take him from me.” Tanner is quick to put our sister-in-law back in her place and I move into the room, needing to get closer, for her to acknowledge and recognize me as I had her.

“So who’s the lucky guy?”

I love the dry sarcasm in her tone and my eyes have latched onto her full lips as they twist and turn up in a smile that matches it.  I manage to finally find my voice when I am only a few feet from her. “I am.”

I hold my breath, waiting for what seems like hours but could only have been seconds, for her eyes to lift to mine. And know what it is to be owned.

that’s it for now, peeps. hope you liked the trip into his head. now here’s some more pics of my lucas muse

more of the tour

so i’ve gettin’ around lately, and not in that way. mind out of the gutter, people.

i’ve been hanging out at a couple of my favorite stops on the tour lately. there’s an interview of me on JBIGGARBLOG-IT’S ALL ABOUT THE ROMANCE . that one was a lot of fun. then over on BooksChatter, there’s not only a great interview, but they’ve put on the playlist i used while writing “love the one you’re witch”. i love that. i almost always have playlists for my stories, theme songs or artists for the main characters, and mood music for certain scenes. can you guess which ones from the playlist on BooksChatter were for whom or what in the book? and most recently, i’m on The Reading Addict where i get to talk about my favorite author and how she inspired my writing. check it out. you might be surprised who it is…

only a few days left until the tour ends. have you entered the drawing yet? head over to one of the posts on the stop and get on that!

meet the character: Ollie

familiar 3

every good witch needs a familiar. and for a witch as sassy as ana, that familiar needs to be a little something extra.

enter: oliver

ollie is not your run of the mill black cat. this guy has personality to spare, and a little secret of his own. or perhaps, not so little?

ollie has been with ana for three years, but not many of her friends really know anything about him other than that he’s small and fluffy, and gives werewolves a bit of the creeps. he is more than just a pet, however. he’s a friend, partner, protector, and personal valet. and his vocabulary is pretty impressive.

here are some fun facts about our favorite feline familiar:

  1. he’s named after oliver queen, from arrow.
  2. he’s a specially trained therapy animal…for a specific kind of therapy.
  3. he’s been a kitten for years.
  4. he hates broom travel and has destroyed ana’s last two brooms so she can’t use them.
  5. he’s a lot heavier than he looks.

if you haven’t already, get “love the one you’re witch” and get to know ollie!

a giggle

knock knock.

who’s there?

impatient ghost. boo!

hehe. you’re welcome.

don’t forget, blog tour for love the one you’re witch starts monday, the 26th. first stop is here. see you then!

vacation’s over

so, i’m back at my desk after my little break for the holiday (chinese holiday…don’t ask me the name, i don’t really know, but the kids were out of school, so it’s a good one, and it actually ended a week ago, but then i had to recover from the holiday…you know how it is). love the one you’re witch has released and is awesome! getting some really great reviews, which makes me pretty darn happy. the blog tour for missing also went well. thanks to all who were involved!

the blog tour for love the one you’re witch starts on monday, the 26th. It will run for two weeks. i’m thrilled with this tour already and i’ll tell you why. i’ve already finished the interviews and guest posts they asked me to do, and each one is different. some are interviews of me, some are interviews of characters (which may be my favorite). like i said, each one is different, so you’ll get something new at each stop. and then, of course, someone will win a prize!

onto updates! so, book two for the magically yours series is at the editor’s as we speak and should be back to me at any moment (and you’ll know when that moment comes because you’ll hear the banging of my head on the desk and the gnashing of teeth as i attempt to cut it all up, stir it around, and sew it all back together). i’m excited for this one and will be revealing the cover soon! the title i will probably reveal even sooner, so stay tuned.

while i’m waiting for the revisions to start, i’ve been doing the preliminary work for book 3, which basically means i’ll be cruising pinterest for hot guys to play the lead role for the next few days. it’s a tough job, but don’t worry. i will not give up until i have found the right one. no matter how many pics of perfect abs, sculpted pecs, chiseled jaws, and spiky hair i have to look at.

if you’ve ready love the one you’re witch, you should now know which hero i’m following in book 3. if not, head over here to get it, so you can be prepared.
